Finished on March 28, 2021 in Norway.

Rules

  • Tournament rounds will mainly be played once a month, however a new round will be paired as soon as all games are finished. A deadline for each round will be set about one month from the start of the new round
  • Players agree with their opponent how, where and when they shall play their match for the round. They are free to play however they like.
    • jigoku.online, or any other platform to play remotely, is allowed
    • proxies are allowed, but have to be in color
  • There will be no timing of games, nor tiebreakers, since that cannot possibly be enforced. We will play until victory or concession.
  • Game results are reported in the facebook group, or in PM to the organizer. When you report your match submit this info:
    • Who won
    • Which player had most honor
  • Deckbuilding follows normal rules, including restricted lists, official errata and valid clan roles at any given time
    • Cards are legal if you can buy them in Norway, there will be no postponing like in official tournaments. If a pack is released, it can be used.
  • If a game has not finished within the deadline of 4-5 weeks, both players will be given opportunity to forfeit their match and be paired in the new round, or drop from the tournament altogether. If contact with one player cannot be established, the other player receives a win, and the unavailable player is eliminated from the league and will not be paired in the new round. If neither player can be contacted, both will be eliminated from the tournament.
  • Points for a game are awarded like this:
    • The winner receives 10 points, regardless
    • A normal loss awards 1 point
    • Forfeiting a game, either by dropping from the tournament or forfeiting a round without play, results in zero points

Registering

  • Registering for the tournament will be done by commenting in the FB-group, or by sending a PM to the organizer
  • When registering for the tournament, you choose a clan for the entire league. You are free to make any valid changes to your deck during the tournament, but your clan must be the same throughout

Champion

  • The champion will be proclaimed at the end of the tournament, and properly showered with honor and glory.
  • All champions of Hjellum Open have standing invitations for luxury tea sessions at the organizers residence

Most honorable clan

  • The most honorable clan will be proclaimed at the end of the tournament. This is the clan that has finished with most honor in most games total.
  • Although they are vassals to the champion, members of the most honorable clan shall command the respect of all the other clans of the empire for the coming year.

Other

On this site you can see the results of each match and round in the tournament as it plays out.

The tournament system will for the most part be like the swiss system in the official tournament regulations from FFG. However, there can only be one champion of Hjellum Open, and so we will run top cut elimination finals. For up to 8 players there will be a single final between the two players with the most points. For 9-16 players, there will be a top 4 cut (semi finals and finals). If we register more than 16 participants I will be overjoyed, and these rules will be updated.

Round pairings will be created automatically by Lotus Pavillion, and may be somewhat different from pairing manually using the guidelines from FFG.
